Located in the DC’s revitalized Penn Quarter, the design concept was to create an urban showcase for artisanal cheeses, similar in character to the client’s first shop in San Francisco.
The challenge was to unite two distinct areas into one cohesive retail space. Framed views, a gallery wall of photos and views into the cheese-making prep area help visually shorten and connect the two spaces.
PENTAGON CITY, VA
This project is an example of an adaptive-reuse of a historic Navy Yard gun factory into a mixed-use retail and restaurant facility. The design preserves the existing brick and factory window detailing and features a multi-restaurant food court.
GAITHERSBURG, MD
A fully renovated group of 1920’s farm structures converted into a mixed-use development. Space includes 36,000 square feet of professional offices, restaurants, retail stores and an automotive shop.
LAUREL, MD
A new Harley-Davidson dealership shows off a mix of contemporary and traditional design themes. The exterior stone detailing mimics the existing Baltimore Washington Parkway’s blue stone walls. The interior features ample showroom space and colors that compliment the Harley-Davidson retail brand.
COLUMBIA, MD
A brand new mixed-use shopping center in the heart of Columbia, Maryland, design features include prominent tower and metal roof detailing with office and retail tenant spaces.
VARIOUS LOCATIONS
GTM has worked with Walgreens Corporate Office, and regional “build-to-suit” Developers since 2004, and has produced multiple projects in Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware. GTM developed the LEED Package for the East Coast stores, seen here. The store implements a combination green roof and high reflective roof to reduce the solar heat gain, water run-off, and water consumption. Much of the materials contain recycled content and were manufactured locally.

GTM worked with Eckerd Pharmacy, and regional “build-to-suit” developers to produce 17 projects over a four-year period. The typical project was a new 14,000 sq. ft. “pad site” building, based on Eckerd prototype base drawings that were architecturally integrated into a multitude of retail locations in the Mid-Atlantic region.
BETHESDA, MD
Located in Bethesda, Salon A combines a warm color palette with curved archways with a Mediterrean influence, to create an inviting and calming environment. The salon boasts a full line of spa services with top of the line styling stations despite the challanging small footprint of the site.
